HONEOYE AUTO PARTS SIGNS AS OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF BLACK ROCK’S “RoC AT THE ROCK”

KIRKWOOD, NY…Dan Harpell of DLH Promotions is proud to announce that Honeoye Auto Parts has signed on as the official sponsor of the “RoC at the ROCK” to be held on Wednesday, July 11th at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, New York. The Race of Champions Dirt Modified Series will make its first ever appearance at the track on that night and will be joined by the Race of Champions Street Stock Series and a qualifier for the Big One for Front Wheel Drive 4 Cylinders for the 7:00 p.m. race.

Honeoye Auto Parts is an auto parts supplier conveniently located in Naples and Honeoye, New York. Whether you're a budding mechanic or own a repair shop of your own, they invite you to stop by and browse through their extensive inventory. They offer new and rebuilt parts for all domestic and foreign cars and trucks.

“Honeoye Auto Parts has been a longtime supporter of area dirt Modified racing”, said Harpell. “We are thrilled to have them on board for what is destined to be one of the biggest events in Black Rock Speedway history”, he added.

Honeoye Auto Parts has locations in Naples at 209 S Main St. They can be reached by phone at 585-374-8890. They are also located at 8649 Main St. in Honeoye. Their phone number is 585-229-5116.

The Race of Champions Dirt Modified Series will headline the huge night of racing. The top drivers in Modified racing will invade the 4/10ths mile Yates County oval all looking for the $5,000 top prize. The race will feature a who’s who in dirt Modified racing. The winner will also receive a guaranteed starting spot in the $20,000 to win Outlaw 200 at Fulton Speedway.

The Black Rock race is a Race of Champions North Series event. New Jersey’s Jimmy Horton is currently atop the North Series standings by just two points over Danny Johnson with Stewart Friesen, Jimmy Phelps and Pat Ward rounding out the top five. New Jersey standout Ryan Godown, a two time winner this year on the series is currently sixth ahead of Mike Mahaney, who is coming off a big win in the RoC Series race at I-88 Speedway. Duane Howard, Billy Pauch and defending champion Billy Decker round out the top ten. Matt Sheppard is just outside the top ten in 11th.

The RoC Series standouts will be on hand to take on top drivers from Woodhull Raceway, Canandaigua Speedway, Five Mile Point Speedway, Utica Rome Speedway, Penn Can Speedway, Ransomville Speedway, I-88 Speedway, Brewerton Speedway, Fulton Speedway, Accord Speedway, Orange County Fair Speedway and more. Some of the Black Rock Sportsman drivers also have Modified cars and will test their skills against the best in the business.

“This race will be a rare opportunity for area race fans to see such a diverse field of cars with drivers coming from New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Canada all on neutral ground at Black Rock”, said Harpell. Black Rock does not run Modifieds on a weekly basis so there won’t be a home track advantage, although a few drivers have had recent success there in a handful of Modified specials. Drivers like Billy Van Pelt, Alan Johnson and Sheppard have all won at Black Rock in the past calendar year.

Utica Rome Speedway regulars will have an added incentive as track owner Gene Cole has posted a $500 bonus to his highest finishing regular. If that driver should win, the bonus will increase to $1,000, giving that driver a $6,000 payday. Some of the drivers eligible for the bonus include Friesen, Ward, Mahaney, Alan Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Ryan Phelps, Larry Wight, Jimmy Davis, Willy Decker and Todd Burley.

Black Rock Speedway regular Bob Buono is the defending Race of Champions Street Stock Champion and will lead the locals as they try to defend their home turf against the series invaders in the $500 to win, 25 lap feature. An anonymous sponsor has contributed $100 which will be distributed amongst positions 13 through 24. Rich Green, Earl Zimmer, Nick Robinson and Gene Sharpsteen will lead the strong contingent of series regulars to battle the Black Rock regulars. They will all be vying for a guaranteed starting spot in the Empire 100. The October race at Black Rock will pay $2,000 to win.

The Front Wheel Drive 4 Cylinders will also be in competition in a 15 lap, $300 to win event that will serve as a qualifier for the $10,000 to win Big One in November at Black Rock. The winner of this race will be guaranteed a top ten starting position in the Big One.

Fans will also have a chance to be a part of the action by taking part in the Virtual Ride Along Contest. Each fan in attendance will have the opportunity to enter a drawing. When the drivers draw for their feature starting position they will also choose a fans name. That will be their driver for the race and if their driver wins, that fan will take home $250.

Modified legend Dutch Hoag will be recognized for his accomplishments in the Race of Champions in its early years. Hoag is the only driver to have won the Race of Champions on both dirt and asphalt, both coming at the famed Langhorne Speedway. Hoag, a five time Race of Champions winner, will be on hand to sign autographs and will be honored during the night.

The long awaited Honeoye Auto Parts “RoC at the ROCK” is in the staging area and ready to blast onto the track. It all takes place on Wednesday, July 11th at 7:00 p.m. at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, New York. The track is just eight miles from historic Watkins Glen. For further information on the race contact DLH Promotions at 607-595-4100 or the track at 607-243-8686. A complete information sheet is also available at www.rocdirt.com.
